MISSION
Our mission is simple. Make the craft of songwriting and composition accessible to everyone as we believe in its huge social, economic and artistic value.
Our mission is simple. Make the craft of songwriting and composition accessible to everyone as we believe in its huge social, economic and artistic value.
We go about this by funding projects that educate, develop or showcase creators facing barriers to the music industry. We want to give everyone in these circumstances an opportunity to participate.
History
Previously known as the BASCA Trust, we were established in 2000 by the Chair and Chief Executive of the British Academy of Songwriters Composers and Authors to establish a dedicated music charity for songwriters and composers to ensure good access to education, funding and resources.
Since then we have collaborated with a range of organisations such as The PRS Foundation, PPL, In The Making CIC, Cre8ing Vision, Help Musicians, Youth Music and of course, The Ivors Academy to deliver real benefits to songwriters and composers.
In 2019, we officially became known as The Ivors Academy Trust and continued to work closely with The Ivors Academy - formally BASCA.
2025 marked our 25th Anniversary, and the Trustees of the Ivors Academy Trust amended the objects of the charity to ensure it reflected the charities direction and impact in the modern music ecosystem. This marked the beginning of a new chapter for The Ivors Academy Trust, and with revised strategy and mission, we aim to make more impact than ever before in 2025 and beyond!
